Coral laboratory

The first coral laboratory at Playa Bavaro to study the resilience of this marine species to climate change.

The project has 3 main goals:

• The first is to maintain the biodiversity of local coral reefs to help protect them from discoloration, disease and hurricanes.
• The second is to become a cutting-edge scientific institution in which international researchers will work to recreate a controlled ocean environment of the future.
• The third goal is to share the beauty of coral reefs with the world. This laboratory will allow our guests, employees and the global community as a whole to understand how important coral reefs located in popular holiday destinations are.
